Well the Save the Grape Bowl group has $60+K on their way to $500K and they have about 7 months to finish. At their current pace they will fall about $380k short. With that said, Lodi's leaders fail to even look at this. At this month's Budget and Finance Comm meeting I brought this up and no one seemed to care. The Grape Bowl is the largest capital project that Lodi has, save DeBenedetti Park, yet no one is even looking at it. Why? Because when the Save the Grape Bowl effort fails the Grape Bowl will be used as one of the drivers for a redevelopment agency. I hate this approach. Just be honest. Tell people what you are doing.
Just look at Bob Johnson's discussion about a redevelopment agency. The first paragraph has the Grape Bowl in it. If you really want a redevelopment agency, stop the fundraising because it might work.
