PALS MISSION
PALS is dedicated to improving the welfare of companion animals in Lodi by increasing the number of animals adopted, by reducing animal suffering and by providing the highest level of humane care – thus ultimately reducing the number of surplus companion animals euthanized in the city of Lodi.
FACILITIES
PALS operates a 816-square-foot modular building next to the Lodi Animal Shelter. We shelter some of Lodi's homeless cats and small dogs. We have four open rooms where cats can stay throughout the day to play and relax and banks of cages for cats who aren't ready to socialize. All of our cats have gone through a 10 day fostering period at a volunteer's home, received shots, spay or neuter and socialization.
At the center of our sanctuary is a 6-square-foot visiting gazebo for people to spend time with their prospective pets. To keep illness down, we bring the cat to you so you can study its personality - some cats are playful and attentive, others are more layed back and like a lap to sleep on.
Our small dogs have to be held for 5 days by law, not including holidays or weekends unless they are an owner release. Our small dogs get adopted very quickly.
PALS is a totally 100% debt-free volunteer organization and of course we need volunteers. If you are age 14 and up and can make a commitment of a few hours a week, we want and need you!!! Are you affiliated with a church, school, club, organization that performs community service projects? Think of us. We especially need men and boys to help with dog socialization and more strenuous jobs. Please tell your son or your husband about volunteer opportunities. Many students have used their time here as a Senior Project or for community service hours. There are so many opportunities for volunteers, from office help to more strenuous cleaning jobs. Cats need grooming and love. If you love animals and like working with a bunch of people who are also animal crazy, please come by our facility now! We simply need you to fill out an application, we will then give you a finger print form to take to the City of Lodi Police Dept and when your finger prints clear, we will start the training process.
We also have a Foster Program. Cats must be fostered for 10 days before they can be adopted out of our facility. During this time, the foster parent monitors the cat/kittens/cats for any signs of illness, provides socialization and vet visit. We ask that fosters come to our facility to pick up cat condos, food and supplies. A Foster Application packet is available at the center.
If for some reason (job, health, kids, etc. ) you can not volunteer, PALS is seeking sponsors for rooms and equipment. Sponsorships range from $50 for a personalized brick to $2,500 for a large room. We also accept any donations, including monetary, product, food, office supplies, etc. We also have Cans For Critters program. We accept soda cans here at 1405 Kettleman Lane. Please come and visit us and see what donations and volunteers have created. Remember we are a non-profit (501 c3) organization and all donations are tax deductible. Tell your employer, human resource department and your friends and family if they love animals and would like to will some of their estate to us or make a donation. We are very proud of our facility.
We have a very dedicated group of volunteers here but we also have a lot of fun! Our fundraisers offer opportunities for members to show off any special skill - this organization will help you hone your building, public speaking, computer, sewing and decorating and logistics skills. Convinced yet? Come on down!
