Get the right facts
By Constance zweifel Only three members of the Lodi City Council, which makes a voting majority, want to declare most of the town (including Sacramento Street east) a blighted area. This includes vast commercial properties east of Hightway 99. Areas that are well maintained, houses that proud owners have improved, will be included with a few streets that we know do need to be looked at.The good along with the bad will be lumped together and declared blighted. This is not fair. Those who are interested in getting both sides of the argument for and against the Lodi City Council declaring themselves the Lodi RDA (Redevelopment Agency) can go to the www.seelodi.com Web site and log on to Smart Lodi there you can get a lot of information. Many Lodians do not know of the site and the information on it. I own a nice home east of Sacramento Street, and I'm concerned enough to get more facts. If I wanted to sell my property or take out a loan to improve it, what will the prospective buyer or banker think of my house being in a officially declared blighted area?
