Parents & Students Plead with District to Save Turner School by SeeLodi (created on )Gallery

The Lodi Unified School District's top administrators met with students, parents and teachers last night to explain why their school is likely to close.

Turner School has been serving the community since 1910 with grade levels K-6. 75% of the students are Hispanic. See: School Profile

District administrators spoke on subjects ranging from the cost of remediating the school's water well to the transfer of students from Turner to Lakewood School, nearly 5 miles away.

Dr. Robert Closson, a student advocate, participated in the lively discussion and distributed to those in attendance the attached MEMORANDUM noticing the District of his intentions to convert Turner to a Charter School, thereby keeping it open and in service to the Hispanic community.
